Dance Workshops in Schools

Danse Danse offers dance workshops at school, introducing students to the world of an artist or a company.

Our dance workshops

Whether or not you attend a performance of the season with your group, maximize the students' pleasure with an exploratory workshop to stimulate their creative potential!

Exploration
1 workshop

Professional artists from a variety of backgrounds will be happy to bring the experience of dance to your students!

  • Designed for all cycles and all levels
  • Various dance styles are offered depending on the availability of the artists
  • Length of workshop: 1 hour
  • Location: at school
  • Rates: $260 + tx (transportation and lunch expenses if needed)
  • For 2 groups in the same day: 2 workshops for $410 + tx
  • For 3 groups in the same day: 3 workshops for $536 + tx
  • Number of students: maximum 25 per group. Beyond that number, additional charges may apply.

Immersion
3 workshops

You wish to deepen the creation around a specific choreographic style with your group? Through a series of 3 workshops (initiation, exploration, creation), we propose you to work with an artist who will guide the young people on the path of creation. Immersion guaranteed!

  • Designed for all cycles and all levels
  • Various dance styles available depending on the availability of the artists
  • Length of every workshop: 1 hour
  • Location: at school
  • Rate: $630 + tx for 3 workshops (transportation and lunch expenses if needed)
  • Number of students: maximum 25 per group. Beyond that number, fees may apply for the addition of an assistant who will assist the artist.

Krump

Introduction to the basics of Krump with historical context and short choreography.



Artist: Handy "HYA" Yacinthe - Elie-Anne Ross
Popping

Knowledge of the body through the popping technique, whose robotic and illusory side helps students to deconstruct their bodies.

Artist: Luis Cabanzo
Afro-Colombian dance

Exploration of the techniques and movements characteristic of Afro-Colombian dances in their full diversity, giving students the opportunity to practice them through choreography.

Flamenco

Introduction to flamenco dance: music, rhythm, movement (with or without percussive footwork).

Artist: Sylvain Émard
Contemporary

This workshop focuses on the spatial and rhythmic aspects of dance. After a short warm-up, students will learn a choreography set to energetic music and will create a movement sequence.

Gaga

Gaga is a fully-authentic movement language invented by choreographer Ohad Naharin (BatshevaDance Company). This method invites participants to deepen their awareness and knowledge of their body, its limits and how to overcome them.

Financial aid

Danse Danse is part of the Culture-éducation répertoire

The costs of the workshops are aligned with the financing measures of the Culture in the Schools Program

A workshop project is eligible for 2 Department of Education and Higher Education programs 

  • Measure 15230: "École accessible et inspirante", accessible through your school principal 
  • "Culture in the schools" program, “cultural workshops at school” component

For the pleasure of moving and express oneself with the body, be introduced to a dance style, awaken one's senses and imagination, develop the ability to listen to oneself and to others.
