"Dance is a relatively poorly supported form of art. The dancers make a major life commitment with their training and development. Unlike sports, dance does not have an embedded support system driven by competitions with substantial prizes. So it is important that dancers have opportunities to share their art and be appreciated as artists and athletes. It takes more than ticket sales to support development in the arts."
