Ausia Jones has been a Ballets Jazz Montréal performer since 2020 and is an emerging choreographer. A native of Dallas, Texas, Ausia Jones earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in dance with a specialization in choreography from the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance. Mentored by renowned dancer and choreographer William Forsythe, Ausia Jones' choreographic voice reflects her generation - lively, spontaneous, and informed. She offers an artistic perspective that draws on diverse gestural languages, groove and counterpoint. Ausia hopes to share her knowledge and love of dance in ways that inspire and educate.
During this workshop, participants will discover Ausia Jones' work and exchange freely with her.
Ausia is a young professional dancer who has worked with some of the top names in dance. Recognized for her creative talents, she is also developing her choreographic voice as an African-American woman.
Founded in 1972 by Geneviève Salbaing, Eva Von Genscy, and Eddy Toussaint, Ballets Jazz Montréal is a contemporary dance repertory company which, under the artistic direction of Alexandra Damiani, creates, produces, and presents on local, national, and international stages.
