Launched in 2015, the Parcours gives teenagers a deeper understanding of contemporary dance through participation in a range of Danse Danse activities: performances, workshops, meetings with artists, backstage tours ... all great opportunities for young people to experience and enjoy dance!

The Parcours aims to enrich the daily lives and imaginations of teenagers by familiarizing them with contemporary dance and those who create it, in order to foster personal development, build self-esteem and encourage perseverance.

This season, Danse Danse is delighted to welcome a group of dance students from the Père-Marquette school. They will take Danse Danse's 2023-2024 season from backstage to the stage through :

  • 4 indoor shows
  • Workshops and meetings with professional performers
  • 1 backstage tour during a technical set-up
  • The creation of a choreography inspired by the Parcours learning program
  • A performance at École secondaire Père-Marquette

We followed the students through the first two stages of their creative journey.

First step

Ballets Jazz Montréal

Students were welcomed to Théâtre Maisonneuve by Ballet Jazz Montréal to attend a rehearsal and chat with artistic director Alexandra Damiani before attending the ESSENCE show. What an evening!

Two of the company's artists, Astrid Dangeard and John Canfield, then went on to give a workshop at the school: a special opportunity to experiment movement and push ones body to its limits.

Second step

Akram Khan Company

Students were welcomed to Théâtre Maisonneuve's studio by two of the company's performers, Max Revell and Elpida Skourou, to explore the animal gestures featured in the show and learn more about their artistic journey: a moment that was both breathtaking and inspiring!
A backstage tour with lighting designer Alain Couture rounded off the evening, which ended with the spellbinding show Jungle book reimagined.
