Gauthier Dance//Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart is a young, dynamic company featuring 16 highly individual, versatile dancers, directed by dancer, choreographer, and musician Eric Gauthier. Founded in 2007, Gauthier Dance established itself in the German dance scene with record speed and has quickly become an international brand.
Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart presents contemporary dance by Gauthier himself as well as internationally renowned choreographers such as Mauro Bigonzetti, William Forsythe, Jiří Kylián, Itzik Galili, Lightfoot/León, Hans van Manen, Ohad Naharin and Sharon Eyal/Gai Behar. Gauthier Dance//Dance Company. Two of today’s most highly regarded choreographers, Marco Goecke (since 2019) and Hofesh Shechter (since 2021), are in fact Gauthier Dance’s Artists in Residence. The company’s artistic excellence is also marked by numerous prizes and awards, including two THE FAUST German theatre prizes and two Golden Prague Awards in 2021 for the widely recognized The Dying Swans Project, an energizing initiative featuring 64 artists.
In addition to performing at home at Theaterhaus Stuttgart, the company also tours extensively in in international dance cities such as Toronto, New York, Tel Aviv, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Monaco, Québec City, Montréal, Berlin and Chicago.
Gauthier Dance has also created an extensive educational and community outreach program, the first of its kind in Germany, named Gauthier Dance Mobile. With a specially tailored repertoire of works that can be presented in small spaces, this pioneering format brings contemporary dance to people who cannot come to the theatre themselves, to youth centres, hospitals, or retirement homes. At the beginning of 2022, Theaterhaus and Eric Gauthier expanded the outreach programme with the Gauthier Dance JUNIORS//TheaterhausStuttgart and the MOVES FOR FUTURE initiative under the patronage of football star Jürgen Klinsmann.
Theaterhaus Stuttgart is a unique cultural center that presents theatre, music, dance, cabaret, comedy, literature, political discussions and more on a total of four stages. It has a long tradition of producing and presenting dance theatre, most notably its collaborations between Marcia Haydée and Ismail Ivo. Gauthier Dance is the First Resident Contemporary Dance Company in Stuttgart.
