Shaking up the status quo

The (LA)HORDE collective and the breathtaking Ballet national de Marseille electrify the stage in a wild futurist cavalcade, fusing dance and digital culture. A highlight of the season!

The spotlight is shining on (LA)HORDE, the trio leading the Ballet national de Marseille since 2019 and which has caused a sensation with its engaged post-punk performances. The influences of fashion, immersive worlds and club culture are omnipresent. Exploring the place of humans in an era of online content and ceaseless self-promotion, (LA)HORDE propels a troupe of 18 phenomenally intense performers onstage. In a deconstructed space-time, the borders between real and virtual bodies become porous. Evoking fight scenes from action movies, stunts, musicals, open-world video games, postmodern dance and choreographic TikTok challenges, Age of Content culminates in a dazzling finale. A surge of raw energy that punches right in the gut.

Roland Petit accepted and founded the Ballet de Marseille, anchoring it in the choreographic modernity of the 1970s and 1980s.
