Combining Lydia Bouchard and Merryn Kritzinger's 20 years' experience in dance, their company La Résistance was born out of a desire to create a creative vehicle for a multitude of multi-disciplinary artistic forms, without barriers or norms.
It is first through the spectrum of music that Virginie Brunelle discovered her artistic fiber. After dedicating her childhood to the violin, she transfers this musical knowledge and her mastery of rhythm to a dance training.
The Canadian artist Kristen Céré has close to 20 years of experience as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher in Europe and North America. Over the years, she has created pieces for companies and festivals such as Dresden SemperOper Ballet, Korzo Theater, Les Ballet Jazz de Montreal, NW Dance Project, Festival des Arts de Saint Sauveur, Festival Quartiers Danses and more.
A world-renowned choreographer, Marie Chouinard traveled all over the world as a soloist for 12 years before founding the COMPAGNIE MARIE CHOUINARD in 1990. Her works with their avant-garde signature are nonetheless enduring and appear in the repertoires of major international ballet companies.
Charles-Alexis Desgagnés is a choreographer, creator, dancer, and multidisciplinary performer based in Montreal. Self-taught and fueled by his curiosity, he works in the fields of dance, improvisation, film, and teaching.
Of French and Moroccan origins, Ismaël Mouaraki discovered his choreographic language while working with choreographer Xavier Lot during his residence at the André Malraux Cultural Center. In 2003, he founded the company Destins Croisés, with which he developed a body of choreographic works that reflect his desire to bring to life the infinite facets of humanity through dance.

Territorial Acknowledgement
Danse Danse acknowledges that we are gathered on the traditional and unceded territory of the Kanien’keha:ka Nation. We honour the continued presence of Indigenous peoples on the Tiohtiá:ke (Montreal) territory, which has long served as a meeting place for exchanges between nations. With respect for the links to the past, present and future, we thank the Indigenous peoples for reminding us of the importance of living in harmony with ourselves, with each other and with nature, and we are grateful for the opportunity to present works of living art at Tiohtiá:ke.
Tonight, we offer you every shade of the night.
The dazzling one. The secret one. The endless one. The raw. The warm. The dreamy. The nostalgic. The unifying.
With Minuit quelque part (Midnight Somewhere), we wanted to encapsulate the movements that make up the your nights’ clockwork. As in a dream, we can go from furious festivity to bewitching mystery in the blink of an eye. It's magical and, suddenly, melancholic. One moment it's pop, the next it's contemporary. We're overwhelmed by every emotion invading us at once. Dance unravels the complex beauty of our parties, of our rituals, of our first and last times. Brought together only through our bodies, we understand each other differently, truly, in a freedom that only the night can conjure.
To make these dreams tangible, we've took artists out from your television, gathered visionary choreographers, and forged an immersive universe together. Lydia and Merryn have carefully traced the thread of this work to light your way up until dawn. Kristen, Ismaël, Virginie, Marie, Anne and Charles-Alexis have imagined stunning, virtuoso and hypnotic incarnations, where our ten dancers unfold as an extension of your body, living out this patchworked night with the intensity of those who abandon themselves fully to one another.
It is a great privilege for us to see this work take off at Danse Danse. And in front of you, dear audience, whom we've known for a long time, from a distance, behind the successes of the companies we've been bringing to you for years. We hope that this first face-to-face encounter – in this twilight where everything is allowed – is the beginning of a lasting complicity.
We would like to thank the Gouvernement du Quebec for its exceptional financial support, Danse Danse for its confidence, all our partners, our artists, and you for nurturing our dreams. Now let yours begin.
